Ms Vicky Chow Yuen San graduated from the National University of Singapore with a BSc in Materials Science (First Class Honours) and a MSc in Biomedical Engineering from the Nanyang Technological University. In NUS, Vicky was on the Dean’s list every semester and was awarded the Siemens Book Prize for her outstanding performance when pursuing her Masters.

Vicky was a Consultant Forensic Scientist with the Health Sciences Authority of Singapore with more than 13 years of experience. She was one of the few forensic scientists with a wide range of forensic expertise spanning multiple disciplines: from toolmarks/firearms examinations, to trace evidence examinations. She reported and testified on several high profile cases such as the body parts case in Orchard Road, Sentosa body in a suitcase case, and One-eye dragon shooting case.  She had also provided forensic educational talks, workshops and lectures to schools and universities such as NUS, NTU, RJC, VJC and SCGS. She presented in several international conferences, and co-authored scientific papers in international conferences and local symposiums. For Vicky’s dedication and commitment to her call of duty as well as her capabilities in Forensic Science, she was awarded the National Day Commendation Medal in August 2012.

In 2013, Vicky discovered her calling to teaching and is currently a full time science tutor tutoring students from the primary to A levels. Armed with a wealth of experience in Forensic Science, she bridges the gap between class-room science and science in the real world for students. She uses Forensic Science as a springboard to motivate her students in learning science and spark the passion in them. Through her, students know the importance of having a good foundation in science and how science can contribute in diverse ways to the society as she infuses industrial knowledge into her lessons.

Vicky is a committed and passionate tutor who believes that every child can excel in science. Her science tuition provides customised solutions tailored to the needs of every child to bring out the best in them.  Together with each student, the weak areas are identified and strengthened so that best results are achieved in his/her exams. For students preparing for O and A levels, concise notes are provided to accelerate the learning process. Common pitfalls, misconceptions and important concepts are also highlighted during lessons to optimize learning.

Under Vicky’s dedicated tutelage, her students show marked improvement, with many cases of students leaping from failing grades to distinctions for PSLE, O and A levels (refer to testimonies page).  More importantly, the students taught by Vicky acquired a love for science. Many of the parents feedback that their children started to love and enjoy the subject after they are taught by Vicky in contrast to their children disliking the subject prior to tuition with Vicky.  This amazing transformation in each child is the best gift to the parents who placed their child under Vicky’s tutelage.
